The Auckland Archery Clubs’ annual opening days were held during October, with great responses from all.

Starting with Shore Archery Club on 5th October, it was windy but everyone was very cheerful, shooting a Short Metric round (50m and 30m) for the more experienced archers, and a shorter distance round for the novices and juniors. It was followed up with a great barbecue. Thanks Shore!

On Sunday 12 October it was Auckland’s turn, and the weather, while threatening rain, turned out to be beautiful. The round shot was a WA 900 round (60m, 50m, 40m), as well as a short-range option for juniors and novices. The archery was followed with a barbecue and some impromptu softball!

Finally it was Mountain Green’s turn on Sunday 19 October, and what a turnout! The weather was amazing, and there were almost 60 people there from Auckland, Shore and Mountain Green clubs. The round shot was a Canadian 900 (55m, 45m, 35m), and with a shorter round available for juniors and novices. As the round also doubled as an Archery NZ league round, there were some eager archers keen to get some good scores to send into the league administrator for the month. It too was followed by a great barbecue and some well-deserved sunbathing.
